Originally the Gay Community Newsletter and a mimeographed calendar events, it is published initially at the Charles Street Church. Its purpose is “To list all the events and information of interest to the gay community in one publication.” Soon a 16-page weekly newspaper, it moves to 22 Bromfield Street in 1974, becomes a regional publication in 1975 and a national one approximately three years later. After an arson-related fire on July 7, 1982, it moves to 167 Tremont Street. It suspends publication in 1992 then becomes bi-monthly published first from 25 West Street then to 29 Stanhope Street, and ceases publication in 1999.
